Iowa City is the junction between the IAIS's First and Third Subdivisions, as well as the lesser used interchange to the CRANDIC. It also has a decent sized yard, and serves as one of two engine service facilities on the line (the other being Council Bluffs, IA). Until recently (Oct 2004), it was also corporate headquarters for the IAIS. After that date, the offices and dispatchers were moved to Cedar Rapids, IA.
