Meredith Drive serves as the dividing line between the tree-dense greenbelt to the south and the more prairie landscape to the north. This was once the location of the community of Rider, Iowa before being annexed by the town of Urbandale.

Interstate 35/80 and Highway 141 cross over the Grimes Line. To avoid the "bridge to nowhere" look common on a lot of layouts the fascia rises up to the top of the highway embankments.
