Album: 2/12/2012 update

Model view of the west sand tower and fuel pad. I just ordered the fuel crane, so I hope to weather and complete the pad later this week, as well as painting and weathering the sand tower. Exterior lights have been added between the engine bay doors on both ends, taken from a JTT streetlight/stoplight set, as was the light on the sand tower.

The sand tower was scratchbuilt using Evergreen styrene shapes, Special Shapes brass I-beam, a Bar Mills #2003 horizontal fuel tank, and Central Valley fencing for the wood platform beneath the tank. The fittings and nozzles on the sand pipes are surplus from Cannon EMD fuel tank detail sets, and the etched caged ladder is from Walthers.
